Meet: Linda Vinod

What is your expertise in?
I craft membership communities to help creators and startups build a strong connection with their audience.

How did you get here? What steps did you take to end up here?
Like many of us, I grew up in densely populated corners of the internet. At 13, I remember seeking supportive online spaces to learn from people I admired but they either didn't exist or weren't easily discoverable. In an attempt to reimagine my relationship with the internet, I began building learning communities for startups and creators. I believe noise-free communities have the most potential to help someone increase their luck surface area regardless of their geographical location or background.

What fuels your creativity?
Tasteful curation. Sublime probably has the highest density of high quality curators dreaming of a better internet. Spending a couple of minutes on Sublime has the same effect on me as taking a walk does. Seeing what makes up someone's thought process by experiencing their curations is extremely energizing.

What is a project you really enjoyed and what made it so enjoyable?
I recently built a membership app for Charlotte North. She's an impeccable lacrosse player whose passion and skills are truly unmatched. I was brought on to redesign her existing membership by building a custom app, adding a layer of community for members to interact with each other, and migrating the existing content to the new app. I took on this project at a time when I was trying to figure out what the next chapter of my career would look like. This project had a huge impact on the direction I chose and I credit that to the young girls and parents from Charlotte's network who I consulted for this project. Their openness and sheer excitement to codesign the experience with me as well as their interest in wanting to learn from the best to take their game to the championship level reminded me of when I was looking for online learning communities at the age of 13. I can't think of a better way to spend my time online than by building delightful learning experiences.

What defines a good from a great client for you?

  1. Vision - Memberships are undoubtedly a great way to provide value, build a community of people you can always reach, and create a sustainable revenue stream for your business. If the third reason is the only one that stood out to you, we won't be a good match. I deeply care about the reason why you do the work you do and how a community could positively and significantly contribute to the impact you want to have on this world.

  2. Taste - I love working with people who instantly know if something matches their taste or not and are able to articulate their feedback thoughtfully.

  3. Trust - I craft the most impactful experiences when I have the time and space to chase my curiosity, connect the dots between my findings (and your insights), and collaborate with you to tweak and turn them into reality.

What makes you different from competitors/peers in your field?
I had a cross cultural childhood so I never stayed in one place long enough to call it home. My environments changed more often than the seasons. Not having the stability needed to familiarize myself with my surroundings led to the development of a sensemaking process that relied on capturing something interesting or intriguing from a specific environment and matching it with discoveries from other environments until I started noticing patterns. There's nothing that comes more naturally to me than research-driven design of online spaces for connection and learning.

How would you describe your style?
I'm a curious cat parent 😸 As you might've guessed, I ask a lot of questions instead of making assumptions. I've been told that I'm a good listener who makes connections hiding in plain sight and comes up with novel and human-centric solutions.

Why do you like working with No Revisions?
Its simplicity, transparency, and effectiveness. Truly a breath of fresh air!
